Another Abortion topic.

As this issue develops it makes me wonder, how did we get here? Abortion has been an issue since 1973 when Roe v. Wade was decided.  I believe that women have the right to decide what to do with their bodies. Birth control became available to the public only because women wanted to have the choice of when and if they want to have children.
I do believe that a young woman should know what an abortion is and what is going to do, so that she can make an informed decision. However this bill is one of those times that I think the government is overstepping their bounds. Why should they even have a say in the matter?
They say that if 1 out of 5 women changes her mind about having an abortion, the bill could save 15,000 lives. Who is going to pay the babies way through life? The tax payers are. I personally don’t want to have children, so why am I paying for someone else’s children?  I chose not to have them so that the ones that are in the world can have a fighting chance. I believe that if more people decided to have safe sex, and practice abstinence that these laws would not even have to be written.
But we watch these teen pregnancy shows on T.V and they make teen pregnancy look all glorified. What a crock. I also believe that if all of our choices are taken away then this isn’t a democracy that we live in it is a dictatorship. That is not what I signed up for…
I believe that if this bill passes, some time down the road the government will find a reason to overturn Roe v.  Wade all together. At that point our bodies won’t be our own, but owned by the government.

  1. My comment is for “Home of the Brave”. Mrs. Dickerson said that all women have the right to abortion whenever they want to and why the tax payers have to take care of someone else’s children.
I am agree that women have the right to do anything with their bodies whether they want to abort or not; however, I am also strongly disagree for what you said. I believe that Mrs. Dickerson still hasn’t realized that she is carrying a person life. Every child wants to see the light of days, and they want to see the one who give them life and love. Many mothers have aborted their babies before they give birth to them. As a result, after knowing that their babies are no longer alive, they started to cry and regret of what they did. Furthermore, abortion is like killing a living person. It is a cruel, heartless and brutal act; therefore, I gladly pay my taxes to help those mothers who couldn’t afford their finances, and I hope that everybody in the world would do the same thing.
Mrs. Dickerson, I know many mothers are suffer and desperate because they don’t know how to take care of their babies after they’re born. However, I can ensure you that everyone in the United States and State of Texas will help those children who were not abandoned by their parents. We are all humans; therefore abortion should be illegal not in the US but everywhere in the world because it won’t be any different than murderers. Especially, it is your own child.

  2. In this editorial article by Nikki Dickerson, “Another Abortion topic,” talks about young woman getting abortion and how government is stepping out to stop from happening. After the Texas Senate signed off on the legislation, the state House, on a 94-41 vote, voted to concur on the Senate changes to HB 15, the Sonogram bill. A bill that allows women a chance to see an ultrasound of their unborn baby before an abortion, so they have time to reflect on the information and images showing the development of their unborn child.
The abortion practitioner must also allow the woman to see the sonogram images of the unborn child and hear the heartbeat along with a verbal explanation of the heartbeat.
In my opinion, Government passing Sonogram bill is the way to convince more than 80 percent of women considering an abortion to keep their baby or consider adoption. But the question is, what about the woman, who been raped, incest, had fetal abnormality, and judicial bypass for a minor. What about the couple who has abnormal fetus and want to have abortion. No parents want to see their babies to suffer and struggle.
Government should think, what woman wants and, what they want to do with their body. Let them take their own decision. If parents are not ready for any children, why Government is trying to convince them that abortion is not the right thing to do, what if, parents are not financially, or emotionally stable.
I agree with the Nikki that a young woman should know what an abortion is and what is going to do, so that she can make some wise consideration. U.S has maximum teen pregnancy, teenager having a baby at the age of 16, it sound scary in the reality.
As Nikki Dickerson said in her post, “Young woman should know about safe sex, and practice abstinence,” which might have stopped Government to take this kind of steps like Sonogram Bill.

  3. Great blog Nikki! I really enjoyed reading it and your opinion. You definitely seem like you've given the issue some very sound and good thought. I agree with a lot of what you said. That said, I must admit and apologize but I am a little confused as to which bill you were specifically referring to here regarding that abortion issue. You’re discussing a bill that is possibly going to pass which can be a game changer but I just don't know which one it is. Link please?
Besides that, I really enjoyed reading your writing very much. It is very easy on the eyes and this was a over all good read. Excellent indeed. My personal opinion on abortion is that although we most certainly should not live in a dictatorship society and a woman should have the right to chose, shouldn’t the fetus have a right too? I honestly and humbly don't believe that abortion should ever be used as a form or method of birth control but women should still have their rights over their bodies too. I guess it is a very sticky subject and topic.
I highly commend your decision to not want to have children if you know that is what you want and your statements of practicing abstinence. People should be responsible in the world to avoid issues like this all together. Anyway, I really liked the blog and I give it a 9.5 out of 10. Great work!
